Technical textile treatments for rubber adhesion and heat protection

Technical textile treatments

We are a European group of companies that dip technical textiles. Our special expertise is in two areas:

Adhesion of fabrics to rubber – Compotex

Adhesion of fabrics to rubber

All our treatments are water based. We are market leaders in the practical application of water based technology in the rubber industry. We offer water based alternatives to solvents for almost all calendering and lay up reinforced rubber parts.

Compotex prepares nylon, polyester, para-aramid, meta-aramid, cotton and vectran fabrics for rubber adhesion and reinforcement. Sulphur curing and peroxide curing rubber is fully covered by Compotex bonding technology.

Our partnerships with many chemical companies are long lasting and with excellent technical interaction.

Heat protection treatments on glass and silica fabrics – Compotex

Heat protection treatments on glass and silica fabrics

We offer treatments and dip coatings for heat, fire and insulation products. The Compotex range covers vermiculite, silica, graphite and weavelocking.

Most dipped fabric is with glass fabrics. We are also experts in processing silica fabrics, particularly with vermiculite and graphite dips.

We have a large range of specifications to cover different industries.

Dipped fabric – Compotex

Dipped fabric

With a selection of stock fabrics combined with our expertise and industry partnerships, we offer our customers dipped fabrics for rubber reinforcement and heat protection.

We work with our customers in two ways. Most commonly we dip on commission. We also sell the complete dipped fabric.

We keep a range of loomstate nylon, polyester, glass, para-aramid and meta-aramid fabrics in stock for development and production. We work in partnership with many textile weavers. These partnerships mean that we can offer a much wider range of fabric specifications than just those offered by one company. We value the diversity and innovation that comes from many different fabric suppliers, which fits perfectly with our advanced and versatile manufacturing capability.

Our dipping expertise is in RFL and peroxide rubber bonding treatments, and vermiculite, silica, graphite and weavelocking treatments.

With stock fabrics and a large range of stock chemicals, our customers get the quick and effective response they are looking for.

Commission Manufacture

Compotex works closely with many companies on a confidential basis for specific products. Whether that is textile manufacturers, rubber companies or heat protection companies, Compotex fills a vital part in the complex supply chain that is standard for European advanced manufacturing.

Customers value our ability to Commission Manufacture as an important part of their process. This partnership working, between textile manufacturers and the final manufacturer, is a key part of our offer to you. Our advanced manufacturing and the trust we build with our customers ensures the success of our approach and your process.

Our advanced manufacturing capability allows us to manufacture with almost no wastage and scrap. Working on commission means that the amount of fabric that comes in is the amount of fabric that goes out. This is very important when you have the greater fabric cost compared to Compotex’s dipping cost.

We always seek to reinforce the trust in our business relationships. We never compete with them and recognise our critical part in their complex supply chain.

Lab and Production Development – Compotex

Lab and production development

Our versatile development capability is available for all our customers and potential customers. It is central to our offer to you.

We have a fully integrated laboratory, versatile and responsive production development capability on our machinery, and the immediate ability to scale up to production on the success of a project.

We will respond quickly when you contact us with a development enquiry, and scope out the options with you. If these options involve laboratory work, we can make samples for evaluation. For rubber adhesion, we can carry out the testing with your rubber, or we can send the dipped fabric samples to you for testing.

Once we have agreed an initial specification, we offer small production runs on our versatile machinery: this is exceptional in our industry. We normally require a minimum of just 10 metres of fabric for a production development trial for rubber adhesion, and only 5 metres of fabric for development of a heat protection fabric.

“For bonding textiles to silicone rubber, there’s no better company to ask than Compotex.”
