Compotex offers customers the special service of dipping narrow fabrics, tapes and braids. Widths are often in the range 50mm to 250mm.
This technology fills an exciting gap in the market for dipped fabrics. When a treatment is needed, standard width fabrics are often slit down to the right width. The Compotex capability means that narrow woven tapes can be processed, as can braids.
For narrow woven tapes, the big difference is the edge of the fabric. No longer is there a weak point in the fabric at the edge, there is no fraying and the chemical treatment has no failure point where it is cut.
This machine technology is applicable for many of the Compotex treatments – both for rubber adhesion and for heat protection.
With this customer specific technology, we recommend trials for all these specialist development projects.
Here are some examples of the range of dipped narrow fabrics that Compotex do.

Narrow fabrics for rubber adhesion
We offer narrow fabrics for adhesion to NR/SBR, CR, NBR, peroxide and sulphur EPDM, peroxide silicone and for other special rubber compounds.
We usually ask for 2 metres of the narrow fabric and 2 kgs of the uncured calendered rubber for the application. This allows us to do some tests in our lab to propose the best specification for the customer.
Heat Protection Tapes and Braids
Braided or narrow woven glass or silica fabrics are sometimes the material of choice for heat protection applications.
When vermiculite, silica or graphite treatments are requested to raise the temperature rating or to provide dynamic stability, Compotex can do the dipping.
This technology gives new options for high temperature applications and avoids the product failures and fraying that can occur when the tape has a cut edge.
