Textiles for Sulphur EPDM
Sulphur EPDM is used for its excellent strength and chemical resistance.

Compotex uses water-based technology for sulphur EPDM adhesion. There are no solvents.
Our standard treatment specifications cover nylon (polyamide), activated and non-activated polyester and para-aramid.
The first step in a new development is for Compotex to receive some calendered rubber. We then run some adhesion trials to test our specifications against the customer’s compound. If the results are positive, we can share lab scale samples and then move to a small production order for full product approval.

Sulphur EPDM
A rubber company approached us to improve the adhesion to their sulphur EPDM compound. Up until then they had not achieved good results except with a top coat solvent dip.
We asked for 2kg of their sulphur EPDM rubber compound as a calendered sheet. We then ran some lab trials with our stock nylon fabric and their rubber compound. Results were looking good with a full rubber tear between the dipped fabric and the rubber.
We shared the results with the company and they were able to repeat the tests in their laboratory.
With the specification approved at a lab scale, we quoted for a 50 metre length of fabric for full production trials.
