Compotex now offers RF free dipping (specifications free from resorcinol and formaldehyde) which replaces RFL and solvent systems for many rubber compounds.
We are working in partnership with EMS-GRILTECH. Their Grilbond® IL-6 NG3 chemical is an important ingredient in the Compotex RF free dipping specifications.
Our RF free specifications include NR/SBR or CR (Neoprene) adhesion.
The adhesion levels achieved are high, with a full rubber tear. Compotex technology is a like-for-like replacement for RFL systems. Both are water based and both can run on the same machinery.
As with all technology advances, there are differences. Early indications suggest that this technology can give better adhesion than current systems and is more versatile with different yarn types.
Traditional chemistry for water-based fabric to rubber bonding uses formaldehyde as the active ingredient for linking resorcinol to latex. Formaldehyde and pre-reacted resorcinol with formaldehyde are key ingredients to build a chemical structure for bonding fabric to rubber during curing. Formaldehyde is a carcinogenic chemical and it is expected that it will be regulated or banned within REACH in the future. The race is on for the rubber industry to transition to RF free.
Price
The new RF free specifications developed by Compotex are costed for the fabric to be sold or commission dipped at a similar or lower price to existing RFL specifications.
Compotex RF Free Development
We are looking for European partnerships between Compotex, EMS-GRILTECH and rubber companies to develop the next generation of products.
